Question:
Jesus himself admitted that the Father is the only true God. Since Trinitarians believe that the Father and the Son are distinct Persons, that they are not the same Person, wouldn’t this prove that Jesus denied that he was God?
Answer:
The person who raises this question is obviously assuming Unitarianism, that there is only one Person who is God (namely the Father), and then imposes this assumption onto the reading of the text. The only thing one has to do in order to understand Jesus’ point here is to simply read the entire context:

Some Christians believe that Jesus’ miracles prove that he is God. The problem with this claim is that almost every single miracle performed by Jesus finds a parallel within the OT. There are many OT prophets that performed the very same kinds of miracles that Jesus did. If the miracles of Jesus make him God then why don’t the miracles of the other prophets prove that they are God/gods as well?

Jesus, in the Synoptic Gospels, went to a fig tree looking for food to eat (Matthew 21:18-22; Mark 11:12-14, 20-21). When he saw that there were no figs on the tree he cursed it. The problem with this story is that it wasn’t the season for figs according to Mark 11:13! If Jesus is God why didn’t he know that it wasn’t the season for figs? And why would he curse the tree when it wasn’t its fault that it wasn’t fig season?
Answer:
There is a very reasonable explanation why Jesus cursed the fig tree even though it wasn’t the season for figs. Even before the season, fig trees produce little knobs which are eaten by a passerby. As the late renowned NT scholar F.F. Bruce noted:

The name of the Lord is a STRONG fortress; the godly run to him & are SAFE. ~Proverbs 18:10
The Message Bible says, God's NAME is a PLACE of protection -- good people can run there & be safe.
The New Webster's Dictionary defines the word strong as, Having physical power (which is the ability to do or act;... of which POWER is the ability to HAVE strength; MIGHT, or force).
Strong, is also defined as NOT easily broken; & firm.
And the word fortress means, A fortified place; or stronghold.

All That Thrills My Soul is JESUS

After living what I felt was a 'decent' life, my time on earth came to the
end.
The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of
what I thought to be a court house.
The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the
defense table.
As I looked around I saw the 'prosecutor.'
He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He
definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen.
I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, kind and
gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.

Are Your Emails Jesus Proofed?

I have written this same message on far too many emails lately, so I thought it important to write it as a general exhortation. During the past few weeks in particular, both my ministry and personal emails have become clogged with well-meaning and thoughtful messages. So what's the problem you ask?
Each of them have a subject line that starts with "FW", some with multiple "FWs". Ya'll know what I mean! Well, here in is the problem. Countless say "This was was just too cute not to send on". If you know its not what Jesus would do or say, why does it become too cute to send along to someone who might not have the right understanding of the Bible?

HE BECAME SIN FOR ME
II Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness
of God in him.”

It was not nails that held my Lord upon that cross of shame.
It was my sins that held Him there to die to clear my name.
Christ was the spotless Lamb of God, becoming sin for me.
He took my sins upon Himself and died to set me free.
No sin had ever touched His heart from all eternity.
And yet the filth of all the world, He bore on Calvary.
The nails, the whip, the crown of thorns, these all caused Him pain.
But worst of all my sin and shame upon His back were lain.
