Scripture Reading and Thoughts - July 13, 2008

Posted by David Jesse
TODAY'S READING: Leviticus 12:1-13:59; 2 Kings 4:42-5:19; Matthew 8:1-4; 11:2-6; Mark 1:40-45; Luke 2:22-24; 5:12-16; 7:18-23The Leviticus passage is about how the nation of Israel would deal with tzara'at, or infectious skin diseases. It would seem at first that this would be pointless reading, but there is something we can learn from this.God went to great length to protect the people of Israel from the breakout of contagious disease. He knew that one small spot left unchecked could result in the outbreak of disease and death throughout the entire nation.
