Scripture Reading and Thoughts - June 30, 2008

First, God is holy and He will not overlook idolatry. Very few of us sit around worshipping graven images. But what are we placing in front of Him? Don't think that YHWH will overlook this. He says that He is jealous. He will judge idolatry, no matter what form it takes.Second, God's wrath against idolatry doesn't just affect us. It affects our families and the consequences last for generations.Third, God's grace and favor are exponentially greater than His wrath. His wrath lasts for 3 to 4 generation, His favor and grace last for a thousand generations. Think about this:If a generation lasts for 70 years, then God's wrath lasts in this example for up to 280 years. WOW! Thats a long time! That is longer than the United States has been a nation! But His favor lasts 7,000 years! That is longer than recorded history! Which side of this do you want to be on?
