TODAY'S READING: Leviticus 19:1-20:27; Amos 9:7-15; Ezekiel 20:2-20; Matthew 5:33-37; 43-48; 15:1-11; 19:16-30; 22:33-40; Mark 7:1-23; 12:28-34; Luke 10:25-37; Romans 13:8-10; Galatians 5:13-26; James 2:1-9; 1 Peter 1:13-21The reading from Leviticus today is a summary of the Torah, or instructions for righteous living that YHWH gave to the nation of Israel. It is easy to see the 10 Commandments throughout these instructions. There are a couple of things to be said. First, these instructions are not to hard for anyone to follow on a regular basis. They aren't an overwhelming burden for anyone. It is understood that there are times when one will fall and sin, but overall, these would be acceptable rules for living. Second, I want to point out the purpose of these instructions. Leviticus 19 opens with this principle, and Leviticus 20 ends with it as well
