Scripture Reading and Thoughts - July 9, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE READING: Exodus 38:21-40:38; I Kings 7:51-8:21; Revelation 15:5-8Today we are finishing up the book of Exodus. It's been really awesome, I think. We see in Exodus 38 that the people followed the commands of YHWH exactly as He ordered. We've discussed several times now the truth that when God orders something, He is specific in what is to be done, and who is to do it. He provides the plan, the people, and "property" (or resources). Then He leaves it in our hands. Are we following the plan that He has led out for us?Are we singled out for a specific purpose, and if so, are we taking action? Are we using the resources given to us, be it our experience, talents, financial resources, or influence, for the task we have been ordered to carry out? It's very interesting to see what happens next. I would love to jump to the end of the chapter and talk about the presence of God, but first, we need to see Exodus 40:1-33. In this passage, we see the Tabernacle being sanctified, and those serving it in being purified. Are we setting apart the work we are called to do for the Lord, or is it for us?Are we letting the Word cleanse us daily so we are purified as we do the work for which we are called? Finally, the exciting, and at the same time terrifying, end to the Book of Exodus.Exodus 40:34-38 talk of the very presence of God coming down to man and dwelling in the Tabernacle. Please understand, we talk about the presence of the Lord like it's something trivial. Read the passage from the Revelation listed above. The presence of God is an awesome, terrible thing. If it weren't for the blood of Yeshua, it would complete destroy us. But we long for it anyway. If we can answer YES to the questions listed above, I believe that the presence of God will come down and fill the work that He is calling us to do.Maranatha!David
